# Data handling

> Where the data you submit goes, and which kinds of service provider receive it.

Part A of the [DataMatcher API terms](https://datamatcher-api.thedatacity.com/terms#data) sets out how we handle the data you submit. It applies to every organisation that uses the API.

In short:

* We host the API and its database in the United Kingdom. We delete submitted request bodies, and batch jobs with their results, 30 days after you send them. We keep the names and website domains you submit, with the results of lookups made to match them, for 180 days. Database backups can hold any of these for at most a further 7 days.
* To match some requests, we send submitted fields to service providers: an AI services provider, a web search provider and the UK public register of companies. The [terms](https://datamatcher-api.thedatacity.com/terms#third-parties) say where they process data.
* On request, we name each provider and say which fields it receives and how long it keeps them.
* Your organisation can ask us not to use AI services for its requests.

For either request, email [support@thedatacity.com](mailto:support@thedatacity.com).
